Repointing, most of the time cheaper then rebuilding. The old failing mortar is ground out with new mortar in its place. This is the finished product after repointing.

This chimney had a flashseal application to help stop leaking. As a cheaper and faster alternative to flashing replacement when applicable. This chimney was also repainted as before only a portion of it was.

The "Wash" is masonry that is sloped to shed water. These are sacrificial as they take will deteriorate over time so your chimney does not.

This is a good example of Type II creosote melting into Type III. It will resemble a sap like consistency when hot but harden like epoxy when cooled and very difficult to remove.

An outside mount cap is the preferred cap recommended for installation. The cap helps prevent water, snow, and ice from building up but also has a drip edge protecting the first course of brick. Outside mount caps are custom order and can come in multiple colors including stainless steel or copper.

Relining a chimney with a Stainless-Steel liner. This line has full of Type III creosote that was unable to be cleaned without damage to the line. After line was removed, the discoloration was found indicating a small chimney fire at some point.

About
our company
Bangor Chimney, started by a fulltime professional firefighter offers comprehensive Inspections cleaning and repair work for homeowners, renters, and businesses alike.
In 2018 I moved to the Bangor area after being hired by the Bangor Fire Department where I still work Fulltime. I’m a graduate of Lakes Region Community College with my associate's degree in Fire Science, and in 2019 began working on chimneys with a coworker in the Midcoast of Maine. My then girlfriend finished her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education before moving to Maine with me in 2019. We purchased our home in January of 2021 and married in December. After finishing Paramedic school in 2022, we had or first child in 2023. We are fortunate that Kaylee is able to stay at home with our two-year-old son with another on the way. She helps with scheduling and Emails when she can.
Thank you for your business helping our family and company grow
