Masonry repoint
Chimney showed severe signs of water damage requiring further investigation.
Water damage was occurring due to cracks in cement crown and failing mortar joints.
To fix this issue the chimney was pressure washed to remove organic growth. Old mortar was removed along with cracks in crown enlarged with an angle grinder.
Chimney was then cleaned to remove mortar dust and new mortar was applied. The new mortar contained a waterproofing agent for both brick joints and cement crown. After crown was repaired an elastomeric agent called crown coat was applied for added protection.
